History - Born to a wealthy family, Scarlett grew up with her sister, Rhiannon, who was not that much older than her. Despite this small age gap, the two never bonded as sisters for their opinions and ways of life were far too different. While Rhiannon became almost a rebel, believing in equality between the sexes, Scarlett grew into a young woman who was happy to do as her parents wished. She fitted happily into a the role of a young lady with the right breeding, and this was one of the reasons that she sided with her parents when her Father kicked her sister out of their home.
Astonished, and disgusted by her sister's activities with the professor, she lost contact with her sister, an arrangement that suited them both. Now that their eldest daughter had been led astray, her parents spent their time and effort making sure that Scarlett was a suitable choice for marriage. It did not take long for the beautiful and fiesty red head to catch the eye of an Irish Lord's son; Diarmuid Murphey. A betrothal was agreed by all parties, and despite her lack of love towards her fiance, Scarlett is making the best out of the situation.
After recently spending time on his family's estate, she was on the ship home when the pirate attack came. No one could quite believe that the attack would come so close to England, yet it did and Scarlett found herself, the only young woman on board, taken captive.
Appearance - Scarlett has a mane of fiery hair that is naturally wavy. Her waves are so fine that her hair often looks like it is full of zig-zags, caused by some intricate beauty treatment. Like many redheads her skin is pale, only highlighting her light red hair and grey-blue eyes. Her slender form is hidden beneath the styles of the time. But from a glimpse of her bare shoulders and the low necks of her gowns, it is possible to see her medium-sized breasts and delicate bone structure.
Personality - Fiesty, most expect this redhead to live up to her name, but Scarlett is suprisingly calm at times. She has an attitude of her own that rivals many, yet she is not as rebelling as her elder sister. Instead she it seems as though she is quite content to follow the crowd, but Scarlett has her own agenda. Each choice she makes is one taken after considerable thinking, and she often does what she does not becaise it is easier, but due to her own realisation that she cannot change it. She would rather sit back and remain the proper Lady she is supposed to be rather than contend with the vicious rumours that her rebelling would cause. This she has gathered from the scandels her sister has caused within the family.
Her calmness has kept her from acting out of turn aboard the pirate's ship, and instead of squealing like a banshee, Scarlett has remained quiet. This has so far meant that she has recieved lesser treatment than those that have spoken out. But as the last month or so has passed, she has simply watched. In her own time she has followed the movements and actions of those around her; pirates and captives, and all this information is kept stored up in her mind, where at a later date it will be put to use. After all, crying over spilt milk never helped anyone...
Talents - As already stated, Scarlett Richards is a keen watcher and would probably make the perfect spy for the King's Navy, if they accepted women. But since they do not she simply takes that in her stride, instead using her own information and accounts to help her through her life. This keeps her level-headed and adds to the intelligence that she found while being educated at her parents wish. However, while her sister found a love of history, Scarlett prefered the arts. Not excelling in music and not taking part in drama since it was not 'ladylike', she turned to art. Her skills in a number of medium are great, and she is constantly eager to try new styles and techniques.
Along with her creative skills, she has the skills needed to be a good wife. Her mother taught her the skills needed for motherhood, while any homemaking tasks would of course be left to the servants of the house. Embroidery, singing, and the ability to plan a good social fuction were imbedding in her from a young age. Along the way she found herself to be a good diploment, mainly from her constantly watching and taking mental notes.
