Background - Phaedra had a relatively easy life, with the normal problems that any woman faces as she grows up. She was the intelligent twin, which caused her brother to tease her often, but in the end her hard work paid off. She was accepted into one of the top colleges in America and chose Biology as her degree. While at college Phaedra was well aware of the supernatural and had time for all species whether it be lycanthropes, humans, witches and even a few vampires when she headed into town.

It was one of her lycanthrope friends that resulted in Phaedra becoming a werebear. He was upset and scared out of his wits after an attack by an anti-lycanthrope group and lost control of his beast. It only took a few scratches but Phaedra was changed for life. It was a shock at first, but she soon adjusted to it and joined the local bear group. She soon became fascinated with the inner workings of the supernatural and changed her Major to Preternatural studies.

After completing her degree, Phaedra took some time out to research different groups of lycanthropes and vampires. She moved around, gradually realising she was an Alpha. Her travels took her to Canada, Europe, Asia and finally she has settled in Shoalhaven after hearing about the unique situation there. She has been there for about 6 months now, and while she is loyal to the Den, she is most certainly using it as a learning experience. During her travels she has written several books and is privately beginning one about Shoalhaven.

Appearance - Quite tall at 5ft 9, Phaedra is definetly not one of those experts who is happy in an old t-shirt and jeans. She is up-to-date with fashion and wears clothes that accentuate her figure. Not particularly curvy, her body is well-proportioned and lean. Her shoulder-length chocolate hair has an array of suble highlights and is always kept in a modern style. At the moment she has the ends feathered and has no fringe. Phaedra's skin is lightly tanned and her lips are full and pale pink. She uses very little make-up for every day but she has been known not to skim on it for special occasions.

In bear form Phaedra is not a brown bear but in fact a black bear, with a thick glossy coat. She is of an average size with a pale snout and dark eyes.

Personality - Underneath her modern appearance Phaedra can be quite nerdy. As an expert in her field she can very often be found lecturing on the subject outside of college or eagerly exploring any new species or situation. Unlike many of the lycanthropes in Shoalhaven she has had quite a lot of experience with vampires and other species, and does not find them quite as scary or threatening. She is intelligent enough to see both sides of any story and is cautious, picking her own side carefully.

She is not a bad person, and is kind to most people, although she cannot abide stupidity. She is willing to teach or explain anything to people, but people who are close-minded or stuck in their ways. Phaedra just cannot understand why people don't want to learn new things. Prejudice, especially against lycanthropes, vampires and witches also angers her because she knows it is just caused by people's ignorance and uneducated fear. This is also because Phaedra is the complete opposite; she loves finding out about new things and is not worried about danger.

Talents - Phaedra's memory is incredible and she is able to remember small details about things. She also has a photographic memory which helps with her studies quite a bit. She is also quite a social person and people do find it easy to talk to her. She keeps confidential things to herself and is very good at getting people to submit information for her books. Her academic skills not only include researching but lecturing and writing as well. Her lust for life and learning is strong and while she does sometimes rush into things, she is cautious and weighs up the pros and cons of every situation.

Her lycanthrope talents include a strong physical and animal form. She can help calm down weaker lycanthropes and is especially good at comforting them rather than using her power, which was originally the reason why she was changed into a lycanthrope. Phaedra can also change her bone structure, a talent that allows her to keep safe in potentially dangerous situations. While she can hold her own in a fight, she prefers secrecy rather than fighting.

Weaknesses - Phaedra keeps her lycanthropy from the rest of the world and is very careful to make sure that her wereabouts is kept a secret. If anyone found out what she was the majority of her studies would not hold any weight. She would also most likely lose her job at the local college For this reason she rights under a pen name and is not known as the same expert at college. This is not the only secret she holds, she also is keeping secrets from the local lycanthropes. They are not aware that she is currently studying them.

While she tries not to seem too geeky or intelligent, she can sometimes seem like a snob or too aloof. She does not try to push her views onto other people or lecture them but sometimes that is how it seems to others. Her academic interests often mean that Phaedra is off in her own little world. And she has been known to enter situations that could be dangerous. Her lack of knowledge in martial arts and other forms of defense can leave her vunerable if she's in human form.
