History: Born in the 1200's in Ireland, Diarmaid was the second son of a Connacht Lord. His father had been an ally of the King of Connacht during the Anglo-French invasion. By the time Diarmaid was a young man, Connacht was ruled by a Norman Lord and the King was dead. It was only through secrecy that his family remained safe, and although they lost some of their wealth, the family was still held in high regard by the Irish.
Diarmaid grew used to being the second son, prefering to let his elder brother play Lord and letting their father groom him to be his sucessor. All the while Diarmaid spent time with other young Irish men who wished to cause their invaders as much trouble as possible, hoping to see them out of Ireland. He befriended one man in particular, a slightly older man called Brenic.
Brenic had a wealth of resources and ideas which attracted Diarmaid. He was also a vampire, something that was not revealed to Diarmaid. Instead he changed him, something that infuriated Diarmaid until Brenic explained why. As a vampire they were far superior than the invading humans, and could cause them far more grief.
Their games lasted until the 1250's when finally the Irish began to win the battle, the Normans beginning to lose the battle. The two vampires stopped their travelling and settled in Dublin, serving under a Master Vampire there. They had become close and in Dublin the two became lovers, as well as firm friends.
As time continued the two travelled to other Cities in Ireland and the rest of Britain. They both began to grow in power, and a few hundred years ago, Brenic challenged the Master of Dublin and won. Diarmaid became his Témoin (second in command) and remained in that position even when offered other Cities. His Sire became sourde de sang of his Bloodline, and through the vampires descended from him Brenic began to 'collect' British Cities. His bloodline soon controlled several Cities and Brenic was not happy to lose London to Evelyn.
Once London was weakened by Evelyn's departure, Brenic called Vampires of his bloodline to him. He ordered Diarmaid to see to London himself, sending his Second in Command to secure London and become the Master of the City.
Appearance: Diarmaid's appearance is perfect. He never has a hair out of place or a wrinkle in his suit unless that is the style he chooses. Tailored suits are his prefered choice of attire and he has a multitude of styles, colours and fabrics in his wardrobe. He is not above wearing any type of clothes, recognising that each has a time and a place and can be used to catch his opponents off guard.
His hair falls in carefully styled waves around his face, and does not fall to touch the back of his neck. It is a dark blonde, almost straying to a very light brown. His eyes are stark in his chiseled face. They are cold and calculating and pale grey with a shade of blue. His emotions are carefully controlled and his face gives nothing away.
Personality: He is a business man, more so than most vampires. If he has any vices Diarmaid keeps them to himself. His Sire is much easier to please, and it was Diarmaid that visitors used to fear. There is no way to bribe him or make him pleased with you; he is either pleased or he is not pleased. His mind follows logic and works in the ways of business. In other words; the best way to please him is offer him a deal. Those who have nothing to offer are not worth his time.
He understands his position and expects others to understand it as well, treating him accordingly. His loyalty is to Brenic and he expects his new Kiss to be loyal to him as well. It suprises many that Diarmaid also appreciates people who work instintively, and he will allow a small break in ettiquette or questionable loyalty slide if it has proved profitable.
Diarmaid is capable of love though. It can appear to be a complete contrast to his normal disposition and is a just another fragment of his business man persona. He has an eye for beauty and usefullness, and it is not unusual for him to take lovers of either gender. He has yet to take an animal or human servant, and now that he is Master of a City he will be looking to do so to secure his power base.
Talents: He has had his wild times and for years has been his Master's Témoin, leaving Diarmaid with experience in many areas. He excels in vampire politics, and without any noticible weaknesses, Diarmaid is easily bribed or swayed. As well as his experience within vampire society, he has had experience with lycanthropes and his animal to call is the lion. Brenic funded Diarmund's business ventures, and his Témoin proved himself to be a dedicated and resourceful business man.
As a member of Brenic's bloodline Diarmaid has the abilty to create emotions in people. As a direct descendent from Brenic this means that Diarmaid wields two emotions; fear and anger. While not as potent as a nighhag, he can use even the smallest amount of fear found in a person and increase it. With anger there does not need to be any anger in the person, he can just switch it on and can drive people into a frenzy. in addition to these powers Diarmaid can use his voice to intimidate or coax anger from a person. He also rises early and can use his powers fully during the daytime as long as he remains out of the light.
Weaknesses: Diarmaid has perfected his control over his emotions more than most vampires, yet he cannot escape the times when he does lose control. It is always in private and very few have seen it, but when he loses control, he completely loses it. He can go from one extreme to the other very quickly and loses control in a whole range of emotions. His loyalty to Brenic has long been considered his greatest weakness, and now that he is Master of the City, he will be viewed as Brenic's puppet. In reality Diarmaid will have complete control over London, and Brenic does not interfer with the Cities his bloodline controls. Problems may arise if other vampires believe Diarmaid is incapable of being Master of the City in London or that he is being used as a puppet.
Being able to create anger from nothing in someone and expanding on the tiniest of fears are powerful abilities. However, they are abilities best suited to war and in battles. Diarmaid is a skilled fighter but his powers do not inflict much harm against other vampires. Likewise they are powers for intimidation and not for reassuring and seduction. This puts him at a disadvantage and means that he needs to rely on the vampires in his Kiss for those powers.
