Background

Maeko grew up as the eldest daughter of the Diallo clan leader Moeka Kimura. In clan Diallo, the responsibility of clan leader is passed from eldest daughter to eldest daughter. There have of course been exceptions but in this instance, Maeko was trained from an early age to become the next clan leader. This often caused her to have an estranged relationship from her younger sisters and brothers as she acquired much of their mother's attention. These duties took up much of her childhood training.

Then when she turned fifteen, her mother allowed her to join with the hunters in their clan so that she could become proficient in providing food and also protecting her people with more than just words. This was also a means in which she proved her worth to the clan. Their clan often roamed in the area from Scaris to Cirsca occasionally venturing further south for trading in Elementia. They often had skirmishes with the Celts and thus Maeko harbors no love for them.

At two and twenty years, she found herself in the middle of a great war between the four races. The hunters were used as protection for the clan. During this time while fighting in skirmishes, she grew close to a fellow hunter, Eri Falak. She proved herself many times as a skilled warrior and protector of her clan. When the war was over and the fighting settled, the clan retreated further south for a respite. During this time, she married Eri Falak.

Several years passed in relative peace. Maeko had two children a son, Acala, and a daughter, Kanae. Shortly after her thirtieth, her mother died of a horrible fever that spread through clan. It took many a life and was a sad time for her to take her place as clan leader.

Maeko and her husband, Eri, worked to heal the clan and strengthen it once more. Between her accomplishments in the great war and her success at returning her clan to prosperity, she proved that she was more than apt to be clan leader at such a young age. However, she often finds herself missing the days when she could freely go out hunting. Since the prospering of her clan, she has had another daughter, Aasera. And while she dotes on her eldest daughter more than her other children she has tried not to make the same mistakes as her mother. She treasures all her children.

Currently, her clan is settled near Cirsca.

Other things to note about clan Diallo. Maeko expects her clan members to keep themselves fit and their mind alive. She does not like idleness when there are tasks to be accomplished. That is not to say that she does not let her clan have good times. She believes there is a time to work and a time to play. Also, her clan does participate in slavery, mostly Celts. She trades many of them with other clans.

Physical Appearance

Often said to be the most beautiful woman in her clan, Maeko stands at 5'5" and weighs 130 pounds and while her stature is smaller than most of her clan she does not let it deter her from speaking her mind and leading her people. She keeps her body in shape and expects her clan members to do the same. Her penetrating gaze more than makes up for any slight that her stature may have caused her. Maeko's eyes are hazel with small flecks of orange brown around the pupil. Her skin is a smooth lighter brown. Her dark brown hair is often in an array of many small braids.

Maeko's hands have calluses on them from years of being a hunter handling a bow before becoming the clan leader. She has several scars on her hands and arms from that same profession.

She wears practical clothes very similar to those of the rest of her clan. Maeko does not do so to blend in so much as she views fancy clothes as senseless, cumbersome and a needless expense. The only mark of distinction that she has are several piercings in both ears that she adorns with gold and silver rings.

Personality

Her duty, first and foremost is to her clan, husband and children. She believes that everyone in the clan can find a task to do to better the lives of their fellow members. She has no tolerance for idleness with there is work to be accomplished. But she does allow plenty of time for her clan to enjoy life when their tasks to the clan are done for the day.

When not wearing the mantle of the leader, she is friendly and checks in on the lives of each member of her clan. She often barters for small trinkets for the children. While her initial thought of such toys is that they are useless, she sees that it brightens the faces of the clan children. She sees the children as the heart of the clan.

Where she loves to be the most is spending moments alone with her husband or her own children. Such moments she treasures.

Talents

Maeko is very proficient in archery and skilled in the use of fighting with two curved daggers. She often practices by training new hunters and warriors. Her helpful manner has often dispelled any trouble that would have arisen in her clan from a more aloof or conceited leader. She believes that clan leaders should not sit idly and give orders. Maeko keeps good relations with other clans by bartering and bargaining between them. She knows some of the way of carers in so much as using herbs to heal and bandaging wounds.

Weaknesses

While Maeko would never admit to it, she is not strong enough to wield anything bigger than a short sword. This used to irritate her when she first learned the ways of a hunter and warrior. It was then that she learned that it was not a bigger weapon that made you deadly but the way in which you used that weapon. Thus, she prefers the use of two daggers and a bow. She views magic as distrustful even though the shaman of their clan is an old childhood friend. She sees it as necessary and useful in its way. Maeko never admits a fear or a weakness to anyone but her husband as she has complete trust in him. She has little knowledge of the other races and harbors a deep dislike for Celts.

Opinion of the Peace Treaties

While she dares to hope that such a peace could be signed and given, she distrusts is. Especially where the Celts may be involved. Her view of Imperials is only slightly better than Celts. And she knows little of the Elves.
