The World
Humans are not the only species that inhabit the world. Vampires, witches, and shapeshifters have lived alongside the humans for as long as anyone can remember. The origins of each species is as unknown as their existence. They look and act like humans, making it easy for them to blend in. The disbelief that anything else is 'out there' keeps the majority of the human race from pondering their existence. Even when they see something they cannot explain, humans will attribute it to something logical not supernatural.
It is difficult to identify a vampire, witch or shapeshifter since they look and act like humans. Although Vampires need blood to survive, Witches can perform magic, and shapeshifters can change into an animal it is not easy to tell that they are not human.
Some humans, known as hunters, know the truth and try to destroy these creatures to save humans from danger. Like humans, not all vampires, witches and shapeshifters are bad people. Vampires do not need to kill to feed, witches do not always participate in black magic and not all shapeshifters will loose control and kill a human.
